The Walker County Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday, October 1, for its regularly scheduled meeting, with planning and zoning, the county’s data center moratorium and plans for a new fire department administration building and fire station among the items on the agenda.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Commissioners will hold a public hearing on a request from Michael Camp for a variance from A-1 Agricultural to R-2 Residential for property located at 3561 Highway 337 in LaFayette. The Walker County Planning Commission has recommended approval of the request.
Under new business, commissioners will consider Resolution R-067-26, which would correct the effective date contained in an earlier resolution and ratify and confirm Walker County’s data center moratorium.
The board will also consider Resolution R-069-26, approving a land exchange between the Walker County Development Authority and Walker County Government. According to the agenda, the exchange is intended to provide for construction of a new Fire Department Administration Building and Fire Station No. 1.
Another resolution would abandon a county right-of-way involving two identified tax parcels.
Commissioners are also scheduled to consider establishing the 2027 holiday calendar for Walker County offices.
The board will consider a proposed $87,120 purchase order to Hasbun Construction related to a change order for the Ivy Street Culvert Replacement Project. The additional work would be funded through TSPLOST.
The meeting will also include the chairwoman’s report, public comment, commissioner comments and the possibility of an executive session before adjournment.
