Walker County Launches Redesigned Website with New Features, Accessibility Tools

Walker County has launched a newly redesigned website, marking the county’s first major redevelopment of its online presence in nine years.

The updated Walkercountyga.gov includes enhanced accessibility tools, reorganized navigation and several new sections aimed at making county information and services easier for residents to find.

Among the biggest additions are customizable accessibility features available through an icon on the right side of the website. Users can adjust text spacing and alignment, change contrast, use a reading mask and highlight links.

The website also includes a dyslexia mode that uses dyslexia-friendly fonts designed to make similar-looking letters easier to distinguish.

Navigation has also been expanded. The main navigation bar now displays all pages located under each parent section, giving visitors a clearer view of the information available on the site.

A new “Report and Request” section under “Stay Informed” brings together frequently requested information and documents, including financial data, SPLOST and TSPLOST information.

The county has also introduced a “Project Hub,” which provides brief overviews of projects currently underway across Walker County.

Other additions include a new residents’ guide, a location where users can request ceremonial documents such as proclamations and related-page links on most sections of the website.

Residents can also subscribe to receive notifications when the website is updated.

County officials caution that the website’s search function may take a couple of weeks to begin producing reliable results. Search engines such as Google need time to clear cached information from the previous version of the website and index the newly redesigned pages.

The redevelopment has been in progress for nearly a year.

The new website is now live at Walkercountyga.gov.
