The Walker County Tax Commissioner’s Office is notifying property owners of potential delays in receiving their 2026 property tax statements, particularly for those who purchased property after January 1 of this year.
According to the Tax Commissioner’s Office, property tax statements are issued to the owner of record as of January 1, 2026, in accordance with state law. As a result, individuals who purchased property after that date may not initially receive a tax statement in their name.
The office says it is currently working to obtain an updated list of property owners to ensure tax statements are issued to the appropriate individuals.
However, officials warn that properties purchased after September 2026 may not be included on the updated ownership list received by the office. This could result in additional processing time before ownership records are updated and tax statements are issued to the new owners.
Despite the potential delays in receiving statements, property owners can still search for their property tax information and make payments online.
The Tax Commissioner’s Office encourages residents to visit www.walkercountytax.com to look up their property tax information and submit payments.
Officials thanked property owners for their patience and cooperation as the office works to update its records and ensure statements are issued accurately.
Anyone with questions or concerns regarding their 2026 property tax statement can contact the Walker County Tax Commissioner’s Office at 706-638-2929 or visit www.walkercountytax.com for additional information.
