The LaFayette High School boys’ cross-country team is headed to the state championship after earning an 11th-place finish at the Class AAA North Sectional Race in Rome on Saturday, October 31.

The team competed against schools from across North Georgia, with its performance securing a spot in the GHSA State Cross-Country Championships in Carrollton on Saturday, November 7.

Leading the way for the boys’ team were Peyton Lands, Cayden Decker, and Lucas Dale, who turned in the team’s top finishes during the sectional competition.

The 11th-place finish was enough to advance the team to the state meet, giving the runners an opportunity to compete against some of the top cross-country programs in Georgia.

With the sectional competition now behind them, the runners will turn their attention to preparing for the state championship race.

The GHSA State Cross-Country Championships will take place Saturday, November 7, in Carrollton, where the team will look to close out its season with a strong performance on the state’s biggest stage.
