An update on a story from last week about injuries that happened on a school bus in the Ridgeland High School parking lot. The incident happened last Wednesday, November 6th. According to news reports, a video from the bus shows several students standing up in seats and jumping back and forth while yelling and screaming. The bus driver stopped the bus to address the children. Authorities say the bus looks like it came to a slow stop but rocked back and forth with enough force to cause students on the bus to be thrown back into their seats. Some parents had complained about injuries to their children during the incident.

The Georgia Forestry Commission is concerned about fire safety moving into the drier season. Before you burn, it’s important to have a cleared area surrounding the fire. The burn site should be at least 25 feet away from a wooded area, and you should always watch an active fire. Once you’re done, put a fire out with lots of water, and slowly touch the area to make sure it is cold before leaving.
Dalton is shutting down their airport for a few weeks to make some improvements. They are repaving the main runway for the first time in 35 years. But when it is finished, the new runway will be able to handle larger corporate jets. Next year, airport officials plan on improving lighting and electrical facilities.
It’s opening night for the LaFayette Ramblers basketball teams. The boys and girls square off tonight against the Oakwood Eagles in the Dan Priest Arena. The girls play at 6pm. The boys tip off at 7:30pm.
