Chattooga County EMA/E-911 Hiring Full-Time Communications Officers

The Chattooga County EMA/E-911 is currently accepting applications for full-time Communications Officer positions. Officials are seeking motivated individuals ready to serve the community in a fast-paced and rewarding public safety environment.

The position is a split-shift schedule with primary hours from 12 p.m. until 12 a.m. Employees work a rotating schedule of two days on, two days off, with every other weekend consisting of three days on and three days off. Flexibility is required, as personnel may occasionally be asked to cover additional shifts due to vacations or illnesses.

Starting pay is $16 per hour, with scheduled raises including:

  • 50-cent increase after six weeks
  • Additional 50-cent increase after another six weeks
  • Final $1 raise after one year of employment

Applicants must obtain state certification to maintain employment. Initial training is provided in-house, followed by attendance at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth, Georgia. The POST Communications Officer Course is a one-week program and includes a required on-campus dormitory stay.
