Walker County Fire Rescue is now accepting applications for firefighters, offering a starting salary of $53,965 along with a comprehensive benefits package.
Benefits include a 3% pay increase for EMT-I, Advanced EMT or Paramedic certification, family health, dental and vision insurance, county-paid short- and long-term disability coverage and a competitive retirement plan.
Firefighters work a 48/96 shift schedule and receive 96 hours of holiday pay and 180 hours of paid time off annually. Additional benefits include unrestricted FLSA trade-time, professional development opportunities and time off for training and travel expenses.
Applications must be submitted on or before October 15, 2026.
