The Chickamauga Mayor and City Council will meet Monday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m. at City Hall, with an agenda featuring grant opportunities, infrastructure improvements, economic development planning, and updates to several city facilities. The meeting will be held at 1817 Lee Clarkson Road.
Among the items under new business is a presentation from Rushton Georgia Certified Public Accountants on the city’s completed 2025 financial audit.
Council members are also expected to consider several projects funded through SPLOST, including replacing the roof at the Gordon Lee Mansion and approving a $25,000 siding replacement project for the Green House, which is used as a short-term rental.
An update on the Trojan Way sidewalk and roadway project is also on the agenda.
The council will review two grant opportunities through the Tennessee Valley Authority and the City of Chickamauga Electric Department. One proposal would provide $7,000 to Chickamauga Elementary School to support the school’s VEX Robotics program, while a second would provide $7,000 to the Friends of the Chickamauga Library for literacy initiatives, learning programs, and STEM-related activities.
Additional business includes proposed improvements at the Gordon-Lee Mansion grounds. Plans call for removing fencing and dying hemlock trees at the rear of the property, relocating approximately 30 feet of sidewalk from the school parking area to the pavilion, and installing updated security lighting.
Council members will also consider the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission’s Chickamauga Comprehensive Economic Development Plan before concluding the meeting with mayor and council comments.
