A community meeting has been scheduled to discuss a proposed rezoning request in the Naomi area of Walker County.
The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at Naomi Baptist Church, located at 4171 Highway 136 in LaFayette.
The meeting will focus on a rezoning request filed by Joan Brown. The proposal was originally presented during the May 7 meeting of the Walker County Board of Commissioners but was tabled to allow the developer additional time to present a revised site plan to area residents.
County officials said the original proposal for a truck stop at the location has since been revised to include only a gas station.
According to Walker County’s comprehensive plan, the property is located within a designated Crossroads Community area, where certain types of commercial development are permitted.
The rezoning request seeks to change the property designation from A-1 Agricultural to CN Commercial Neighborhood.
