A driver who allegedly fled from law enforcement during a traffic stop in Rossville on Friday evening remains at large, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
According to information reported by WRCB-TV Local 3 News Chattanooga, the incident began around 6:35 p.m. on Carden Avenue. A Local 3 viewer reported hearing a vehicle speeding through the area, followed closely by a Rossville Police officer.
Georgia State Patrol officials said a state trooper and a cadet in training were assisting a Rossville Police officer during a traffic stop when the driver suddenly fled at a high rate of speed. Authorities said the officer was in the process of identifying the driver when the vehicle sped away.
At the time, the Rossville officer was also dealing with a passenger who was outside the vehicle and signaled for the trooper to pursue the fleeing driver.
The pursuit continued toward the Tennessee state line. However, the trooper terminated the chase once the vehicle crossed into Tennessee.
Despite the driver’s escape, authorities said they have identified the suspect as Marshal Graham.
Rossville Police Department officials are expected to obtain charges related to events that occurred prior to the pursuit, while the Georgia State Patrol plans to pursue charges stemming from the chase and actions that occurred afterward.
As of Friday night, Graham had not been taken into custody.
