Early voting gets underway today in Walker County as residents prepare for the upcoming May 19 General Primary.
Voters can cast their ballots at the Walker County Elections Office, located at 311 South Main Street in LaFayette, and at Rossville City Hall on McFarland Avenue. Polls are currently open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with expanded hours scheduled throughout the early voting period.
Early voting will continue through May 15, with weekday hours typically running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at both the LaFayette and Rossville locations. Additional sites will open from May 9 through May 15, including the Chickamauga Civic Center and Fairyland/Lookout Mountain City Hall.
All early voting locations will offer extended hours on May 12, operating from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The May 19 primary ballot includes a variety of federal, state, and local races, along with nonpartisan judicial contests. Voters will choose nominees for offices such as U.S. Senate, governor, lieutenant governor, and secretary of state, as well as congressional and state legislative seats. Judicial races include positions on the Georgia Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Superior Court.
In addition, eligible voters in Rossville will see a special election for a city council seat on their ballots.
Election Day is set for Tuesday, May 19.
