Keep your pets indoors if you can and make sure you keep proper IDs on them at all times. Independence Day is the biggest day for lost pets on the calendar.
Triple-A expects to be busy this holiday week. Two million Georgia residents will take to the highways and interstates this week. Triple-A estimates they will rescue about 800,000 stranded motorists nationwide leading up to the end of the holiday week on Sunday. Make sure you check your tires and your battery before you head out on a long road trip. Make sure you top off your engine oil, coolant, brake, transmission and power steering fluids.
Trion’s Brody Malone is headed to Paris as a member of the US Men’s Gymnastics team. Malone finished second at the Men’s Gymnastics Olympic trials. The 24-year-old Malone suffered a right knee injury last March. He’s undergone 3 surgeries in the last 15 months. Malone won the national title earlier in June.
The Dalton Police Department is searching for a runaway teenager. Police said 15-year-old Yavier Jesus Martinez-Zapata was reported as a runaway by his family. Martinez-Zapata is 5’7″ and weighs about 150 pounds. Investigators now ask the public for their help in locating him. Martinez-Zapata was last seen by his family on Saturday, June 22 at his home on Nelson Street. They said he was wearing a black t-shirt and shorts. He was riding a white bicycle.
