Residents can expect an increased law enforcement presence at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School on two upcoming dates as the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department conducts building clearing training exercises.

The training is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, and Thursday, July 16, and is designed to help officers maintain and strengthen their response capabilities during critical incidents and emergency situations.

During the exercises, citizens may notice numerous police officers, patrol vehicles, and other law enforcement activity in and around the school campus. Officials emphasize that the activity is part of a planned training exercise and there is no cause for alarm.

For the safety of both the public and participating officers, the police department is asking residents to avoid the school grounds while training is underway.

According to the department, the exercises are an important part of ensuring officers remain prepared to respond effectively to emergencies. Officials also thanked the community for its continued support and cooperation as the department works to keep Fort Oglethorpe safe.

Residents who see a heavy police presence at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School on July 9 or July 16 are reminded that the activity is part of scheduled training and not an actual emergency.
