Residents in the Fort Oglethorpe area can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School on Thursday, July 16, as the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department conducts building clearing training exercises.
The department said officers, police vehicles, and training activities will be visible throughout the school campus during the exercise. Officials emphasized that the activity is only a planned training event and that there is no threat to the public.
For the safety of both the public and participating officers, residents are asked to stay clear of the school grounds while the training is underway.
According to the police department, the exercises are designed to ensure officers remain prepared to respond effectively during critical incidents and emergency situations. The realistic training helps officers sharpen their skills and maintain readiness for a variety of emergency scenarios.
The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department thanked the community for its continued support and cooperation, saying the training is an important part of its ongoing commitment to keeping Fort Oglethorpe safe.
