LaFayette High School and Walker County Schools mourn the loss of Lori McWhorter.  McWhorter passed away unexpectedly.  McWhorter was in her 5th year at LHS as a CTAE Teacher.  She specialized in business and entrepreneurship classes.  She led the Future Business Leaders of America at LHS.  McWhorter was LaFayette High School and Walker County’s Teacher of the Year for 2023.  The school system and the high school will be organizing a memorial service.  Details will be announced soon.
The Walker County Detention Center reports two felony arrests on Saturday.  37-year-old Morticia Lachelle Bridges was booked on charges of possession of meth and 13-charges of animal cruelty.  23-year-old William Kane Edgeman was booked on felony charges including DUI, possession of cocaine and marijuana along with several other charges.
The latest weather predictions for the month of October say that Walker County is experiencing moderate drought conditions.  the National Intergrated Drought Information System says these conditions are expected to persist for the next month.  Rainfall in October is expected to be below normal.
LaFayette softball is back in action this week.  The JV plays today at Gordon Lee at 5:30pm.  The varsity and JV play Tuesday at Ridgeland.  The varsity play at 5:30pm.
