Road paving continues in Walker County. Crews are currently resurfacing West Reed Road. Last week, they started on Straight Gut Road. A culvert failure as created a dip on Glentana Street. Crews have installed a steel plate. It’s a temporary fix to keep the street open until a new culvert can be installed. The Board of Commissioners approved funding for a new culvert at their meeting last week. According to officials, there is an 8-week lead time before the materials will be ready.
The Walker County Sheriff’s office have caught a person suspected of theft at a Rossville business on Monday. The invident happened on McFarland Avenue. The Sheriff’s Department has not released the individuals name. The suspect was captured on surveillance cameras in the parking lot of a Circle K gas station located across the street. See Rock City won Attraction of the Year by the Greater Chattanooga Hospitality Association. The tourist destination on Lookout Mountain also won Tourism Property of the Year and a Community Service Award from HospitalityTN’s Stars of the Industry Purple Iris awards. The award ceremony took place last week in Knoxville. This year is Rock City’s 90th anniversary as well. To celebrate, they recently repainted several “See Rock City” barns across four states.
