Some Chickamauga residents are concerned about a proposal for a new development.  There is a proposed rezoning request for 127 acres of land on Highway 193.  The proposal seeks to rezone the property to a Planned Unit Development.  That would accommodate the construction of a 153-home subdivision.  The plans include 25 overnight rental properties.  The land in question is presently zoned as Agricultural.  Residents are concerned about the anticipated impact on traffic in the area along with overcrowding that may be caused at local schools and an increase in property taxes.  The rezoning is on the agenda for tonight’s County Commission meeting.  The meeting starts at 7 at the Walker County Annex III in LaFayette.
