The two men aiming to win the Democratic nomination for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District held a debate Friday night.  Shawn Harris and Clarence Blalock are set for a run off tomorrow.  The winner will face Majorie Taylor Greene in November.  
Two felony arrests in Walker County on Saturday.  Just before 2am Saturday, 24-year-old Matthew Jordan Schubert was booked into the Walker County Detention Center.  Schubert is facing charges of possession of firearm by a convicted felon, theft and possession of a controlled substance.  Saturday night, 36-year-old Jimmy Michael Matley was booked on felony probation violation.  Matley was also charged with fleeing, failure to maintain lane and reckless driving. 
The Red Cross stepped up to help a LaFayette family last week.  A house fire on Auburn Drive Thursday night left a family of 8 in need.  The Red Cross provided comfort kits along with recovery planning to help the family.  
If you’re traveling internationally this summer, you may have to renew your passport. Consumers unaware of the passport renewal process may fall victim to online scams, the Better Business Bureau says.  If you’re planning to renew your passport this summer, the Better Business Bureau says to watch out for online scams.  Many fake websites that advertise online passport renewal will scam people by ultimately stealing a person’s personal information and money.  The BBB says some major giveaways that a website is fake are to check to URL. Look out for “.gov”, to make sure it is legit. They also advise to look out for third-party sites, and say not to rush the renewal process.  The only way to renew a passport correctly is by filling out a form from the U.S. Government website and mailing that form with a check payment or money order, BBB says.  It usually takes about six to eight weeks, and the process can be expedited, but costs extra money to do so.
