As we move into July there are some new laws going into effect in the state of Georgia. Squatted trucks are no longer legal. As of yesterday it’s illegal to drive a truck with the front end raised higher than the rear. The law is designed to help improve road safety with better visibility and control. If your vehicle has a gross weight between 4,000 and 7,500 pounds the front end cannot be more than four inches above or below the rear. If your truck is modified this way, make sure you adjust it to avoid fines and penalties.

The City of LaFayette will be closed on Thursday July 4th. Thursday’s garbage will be picked up tomorrow along with Wednesday’s garbage collection.

Dade, Walker and Catoosa Counties still have the cheapest gas in Georgia headed into this holiday week. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the three-county area is $3.15. Savannah has the most expensive gas at $3,39. State wide you’ll pay an average of $3.31 if you’re traveling for the 4th of July.

If you’re looking for a place to watch fireworks on the 4th of July. Summerville will have fireworks tomorrow night on July 3rd. It’s the Summerville Independence Festival. It’s happening at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center. Fireworks start at 10pm. Dade County has their 1945 Fair featuring music from T G Sheppard and T Graham Brown. Fireworks will end the night there. Lake Winnepesaukah will have 4th of July fireworks beginning at 10pm and the Chattanooga Lookouts will have fireworks on Thursday following their game.
