Lightening is believed to be the cause of a house fire on Friday. Walker County dispatchers received a call around 1:19pm of a structure fire at 14 Rayleigh Drive. After reportedly hearing lightning strike his house, the homeowner went outside and noticed smoke coming from the attic area, prompting him to call 911. Firefighters arrived to find visible flames coming from the home. As part of their fire suppression, they ventilated the roof to keep the fire from spreading beyond the attic. It took firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control. There were no injuries, but the house sustained fire damage to the attic and water damage to other areas.
