A house fire in Walker County has left 7 people without a home. Walker County Fire Department responded to a house fire yesterday afternoon on Friendship Road. When crews arrived, flames were coming out of one of the front windows. Seven people were in the home at the time of the fire. They were able to make it out safely. One person went to the hospital for small burns. There were multiple dogs on the property, one of them died. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A water main break yesterday morning left many Rock Spring residents without water. The incident happened early yesterday morning. Water service was restored yesterday afternoon. The 12-inch water main was located in front of Georgia Northwestern Technical college.
Walker County Kids Day is coming up later this month. The event is set for Tuesday July 30th at Saddle Ridge School between 1pm and 6pm. There will be free games, activities, school supplies and backpacks. There will also be free hearing, dental, vision and nutritional screenings.
Georgia Northwestern Technical College is waving all $25 applications fees for this week. The offer is for students wishing to enroll for the fall semester. The deadline for admission is July 29th. Classes at GNTC start August 19th. You can visit the GNTC website and apply online.
