The Walker County Sheriff’s Office has released information about another phone scam taking place in the area.  Authorities say that several phone calls have been made to people in the area.  The caller claims to be from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.  The sheriff’s office says they will never call you asking to take care of a legal matter over the phone.  They say not to give out any personal information.  If you have question call the sheriff’s office and talk to someone in person.
As we reported recently, work has started on paving roads in Walker County.  50 miles of roads are on the county’s paving list this year.  Work has started in Mountain View Subdivision.  The entire subdivision will be paved this year for the first time in nearly 40 years.  A full list of paving’s for this year in the county can be found online at WalkerCountyGA.gov
The Walker County Board of Commissioners has approved the funds to renovate the exterior of the courthouse.  The county awarded a contract of more than $763,000 to do the work.  The repairs include construction of an ADA ramp and repairing the steps at the main entrance to the courthouse.  Funding for the renovations was approved in a 2020 SPLOST vote.  Masonry Specialist will do the work.  They have until the end of the year to complete the project.
Trion High School graduate Brody Malone is headed to compete for a spot on the US Men’s Gymnastics team.  Malone is the reigning US All-Around Champion.  He won the US Championship over the weekend in Fort Worth Texas.  Malone suffered through three knee surgeries last year.  He’s in position to make the Olympic team for this summer’s games.  The Olympic trials are set for June 27-30.
