If you’re traveling around LaFayette later today be advised of a road closure.  A short section of Villanow from Main Street to Duke Street will be closed for the Music on Main event.  The road closes at 6:30pm.  The concert starts at 7.  Admission is free.  It’s happening at the downtown commons on the square.  Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy Pink Houses a tribute to John Cougar Mellencamp.
The date for this year’s Meet the Ramblers is set.  Thursday, August 22nd at 6pm.  The following groups from LHS will be in attendance – Football, Cheerleaders, Volleyball, Softball, Cross Country, Band, CTAE Clubs and Junior City Council.  Mark it on your calendar now, August 22nd at Jack King Stadium at LaFayette High School.
Georgia Transportation officials announced yesterday plans to spend an extra $1.5 billion on projects.  The funds include $593 million to boost construction projects.  $250 million has been earmarked for county and city road and bridge maintenance.  Another $50 million will go towards repaving.
Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson announced yesterday that the states June unemployment rate was 3.3%.  That’s up a 10th of a percent from May.  The Georgia labor force is at an all-time high and has increased by almost 48,000 over the last three months.
