Beginning this school year, all 15 Walker County Schools will offer one breakfast and lunch free for all students. The move is part of the Community Eligibility Program through the Walker County Schools Nutrition Department. Families will not be required to submit a free/reduced meal application to qualify. Completion of a survey will be requested. Students will have to pay for any extra items they wish to buy. This includes extra milk, extra entrees, cookies or other items.

David Boyle, Chairman of the Walker County Democratic Party issued a statement yesterday on President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out of the Presidential race. Boyle said, “His 50 years of public service is a testament to his love for our country and our democracy. I do not believe he made this decision lightly, but instead that this decision is what he thinks is best for our country. President Biden has always put his country first.” Boyle also said that regardless of who the Democratic nominee is the danger to the country and democracy remains. The county’s Democratic leader said that, “he Walker County Democratic Committee stands committed to preserving our democracy from the ground up. Lt. Governor Burt Jones state wide field representatives will be in Walker County tomorrow. The mobile office hours are to assist anyone who needs help with state matters. The Walker County Sheriff’s Department and the Chickamauga City Police Department will be conducting training this week at Gordon Lee High School. The training began yesterday and will continue through Thursday. If you notice increased presence around the school, do not be alarmed.
