O’Charley’s Reportedly Closing Nearly All Locations, Including Fort Oglethorpe Restaurant

O’Charley’s Restaurant & Bar is reportedly closing nearly all of its remaining company-owned restaurants, including its location on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe.

Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that the Nashville-based restaurant chain is shutting down its corporate-owned locations as the company continues to struggle with declining customer traffic and sales.

The Fort Oglethorpe restaurant is located at 2542 Battlefield Parkway.

O’Charley’s has not issued a company-wide public announcement detailing the closures. However, employees at several restaurants have confirmed their locations are shutting down, including locations in Tennessee that were reportedly scheduled to close at 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 9.

The chain currently operates 49 company-owned restaurants and three franchised locations nationwide. It remains unclear whether all of the independently franchised restaurants will also close.

O’Charley’s has also reportedly deactivated its social media accounts.

The closures follow continued financial struggles for the restaurant chain.

Cannae Holdings, which owns a majority equity interest in O’Charley’s, reported in its latest quarterly results that the restaurant chain “continued to experience challenges in maintaining its traffic.” O’Charley’s sales declined 13 percent during the quarter.

Four O’Charley’s restaurants had already closed earlier this year.

O’Charley’s was founded in Nashville in 1971 and became known throughout the Southeast for Southern-inspired comfort food, steaks, chicken, seafood and its signature rolls.

The reported closure of the Fort Oglethorpe restaurant would eliminate another longtime casual dining option along the heavily traveled Battlefield Parkway commercial corridor.
