Walker County will receive a $20,000 grant. The money comes from the Historical Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The funds will be used to begin a phased resurvey of historic resources in the county.
Yesterday’s storms caused power outages in Walker County. As of 9pm yesterday there were still nearly 2,600 homes without power. Crews worked through the evening to get the power back on.

One man is dead following a fire on Joe Tike Drive in Ringgold. Catoosa County firefighters from four stations, on and off duty, responded to a call from a neighbor at 7 Monday morning. When firefighters arrived, they found the fire on the second floor and the roof of the home. Firefighters found a man in a upstairs bedroom. The man died as a result of injuries from the fire. The victim’s identity has not been released. The cause of the fire continues to be under investigation.
