Today is the 1st day of school in Walker County.  Make sure you watch your speed in the school zones and be on the lookout for busses.
A wedding venue in Rossville has been forced to close due to a zoning issue.  The wedding and events venue is called Old Bailey Station.  Rossville officials say the building is near an industrial zone and has to close.  Because the building falls within the mill’s industrial zone and the commercial overlay zone, the space will have to be rezoned for large events like weddings.  The city says they are doing everything they can to get the rezoning issue solved to allow the business to begin operating again.
Six felony arrest on Tuesday in Walker County.  Four arrests were for felony violation of probation.  42-year-old Damon Lorand Snow was arrested for possession of a schedule II/controlled substance.
The State of Georgia is seeing an increase in accidents involving 18-wheelers.  The Truck Safety Coalition says that age could be a contributing factor.  They say that a high rate of commercial motor vehicle drivers involved in fatal crashes are younger drivers.  The report says that truck drivers between 19-20 years old are six times more likely to be involved in fatal crashes.
