Tina Painter has been appointed to the Walker County School Board. Painter fills the void left by Mike Carruth’s resignation in July. Painter is a former educator teaching at both LaFayette High School and Gordon Lee Middle School.
Four felony arrests in Walker County on Wednesday. 48-year-old Ernest Linam was booked on possession of meth charges.
Squirrel hunting season opens next Thursday in Georgia. Authorities with the state’s wildlife resources division say squirrel hunting is great for kids going on their first hunt. Squirrel hunting doesn’t require you to be absolutely still or quiet. Hunters over the age of 12 must complete a hunter education course unless they are under the direct supervision of a licensed adult hunter.
School is back in session across Walker County and all of North Georgia. AAA says 70% of Georgia drivers will regularly drive through a school zone. AAA advises motorist to slow down and stay alert when driving through neighborhoods and school zones.
