The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in a theft early Sunday morning. At about 4:45am two people drop up to Mission Glen Baptist Church and stole a 3 ton AC unit. The thieves removed the security camera before taking the unit. The two individuals were in a gray or black pick up truck that appears to be a Ram 1500. The Summerville City Council has named Jason Winters to the city manager’s job. The city and Winters will now begin working on terms of his employment. The final approval for Winters will be in the coming weeks.
Two people were seriously injured in Dade County on Sunday when a minivan was struck by a train. After being hit the van spun off the road and crashed into a nearby building. The accident happened on Morgan Road near Highway 111. The railroad crossing does not have crossing arms.
Gas prices in Northwest Georgia have taken a dip. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gas in Catoosa, Dade and Walker Counties is $3.03. That’s the cheapest in the state. Statewide gas prices are at $3.23. That’s down a nickel in the last week and 16 cents less than last month.
