A Chattanooga man was killed Tuesday night in Chattooga County while on the run from police.  56-year-old Anthony Wayne Holcomb was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office tried to make a stop on the vehicle driven by Holcomb just after 11pm Tuesday.  Holcomb sped away through Summerville, hitting speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.  In the area of Trade Day, Holcomb lost control and crashed into a fenced cemetery.  Deputies recovered approximately 2-and-a-half pounds of methamphetamines in the vehicle.  A loaded handgun was found after the crash under Holcomb’s hand in his lap.  Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader says authorities are awaiting reports from the Georgia Medical Examiner’s Office at the state crime lab.
Another road closure in Walker County.  This is part of the sewer redirection project.  McFarland Avenue will be closed to thru traffic from Hogan Road to Mission Ridge Road.  The closure went into effect yesterday and is expected to last for 2-weeks.
There were four felony arrests in Walker County on Tuesday.  Among those arrested…Autumn Joyce-Paulette Jones.  23-year-old.  Book on charges of financial transaction card fraud.  18-year-old Tommy Lee Spicer was arrested on felony aggravated assault charges.
LaFayette High School basketball opens the season Friday night.  The Ramblers face Oakwood at home.  The girls play at 6.  The boys game will follow.
