Yesterday afternoon the Walker County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of three people in connection with a murder that happened on Halloween. Police responded to a call just after midnight on November 1st on Johnson Road in Chickamauga. Officers found the body of 25-year-old Dakota Bottomlee in the carport of the home with multiple gunshot wounds. On November 6th after getting a search warrant for a residence on Alabama Highway in Ringgold. Police arrested 21-year-old Kayla Michelle McClure of Ringgold and 21-year-old James Logan Darty of Rossville for Bottomlee’s murder. Two day later murder warrants were obtained for 18-year-old Marcus Allen Chambers of Rossville and 23-year-old Braden Whatley of Rossville. McClure, Darty and Chambers are all in custody in the Walker County jail. Brayden Whatley remains at large.

The Dalton Airport runway is being resurfaced. It’s the first repaving since the 1980’s. Business leaders say the resurfacing will allow larger planes to land there. They say that the airport is key for attracting businesses that want to relocate or expand into North Georgia. The runway is expected to be open around Thanksgiving.
The regular monthly meeting of the Walker County Historical Society will be held on Sunday, November 24, 3:00 pm, at the Marsh House. It is the annual business meeting with the election of officers.
