A fourth suspect in the homicide that left a Chickamauga man dead has been arrested. Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson announced yesterday afternoon that 23-year-old Brayden Whatley or Rossville had surrendered to authorities at the jail on Wednesday morning. Whatley has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault and Armed Robbery. 25-year-old Dakota Bottomlee was found dead after midnight on November 1st. Bottomlee had been shot multiple times at a residence on Johnson Road. Authorities have three others in custody in connection with the murder.
Three felony related arrests on Wednesday in Walker County. 41-year-old Bobby Joe Taylor was charged with possession of meth and drug related objects. 27-year-old David Dewayne McDaniel was charged with two counts of bringing a stolen vehicle into the state and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. The Walker County Planning Commission is set to meet tonight. A work session starts at 5pm to review proposed changes to the county’s land use code. The regular meeting follows, starting at 6pm. The meeting happens at the Civic Center in Rock Spring. The commission will also hear about some property on Highway 151 in LaFayette. The owner is asking to rezone the land from agricultural to commercial. There is also a request to turn a piece of land on North Highway 27 in LaFayette from residential to commercial.
The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced they will suspend all lane closures on interstates, major state routes and roads near popular shopping areas. The closed lanes will be open beginning at 5am on Wednesday until 10pm on Sunday. GDOT says the heaviest travel times will be Wednesday and Sunday. Heavy congestion is expected on I-75 near Atlanta both north and south bound.
