The City of LaFayette will be closed Thursday and Friday of next week for Thanksgiving. Thursday’s garbage will be picked up on Wednesday along with Wednesday’s regular pick up.
Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson says unemployment in Northwest Georgia last month was up one-tenth of a percent. The unemployment rate in the region sits at 3.4%. The initial unemployment claims were up 157 over the month.
There were 9 felony arrests on Wednesday in Walker County. 42-year-old Billy Dewayne Robinson, 56-year-old Teresa Goodridge White and 55-year-old Charles Robert Chambers were charged with possession of meth. 42-year-old Joshua Wade Williams was arrested on aggravated stalking and 2nd degree burglary .
LaFayette High School Basketball is back in action tonight. The boys and girls will travel into the central time zone to face Whitwell. The girls game is at 6pm. The boys will play at 7:30pm.
