Chattooga County has been able to reduce their borrowing. Chattooga County Sole Commissioner Blake Elsberry says the county has cut their borrowing from $4.5 million to just over a half million. Elsberry wants to lessen the county’s debt and the reliance on loans to cover the county’s spending.
Chattanooga authorities say calls continue to come in to 911 about the smoke on Lookout Mountain. Fire officials say that part of the Incline Railway tracks continue to smolder. Chattanooga Fire and Lookout Mountain Fire along with assistance from other areas and the state of Tennessee and federal agencies continue to monitor the situation. The fire is contained but continues to smolder. Officials say the fire was human caused.
Cloudland at McLemore Resort has garnered another top ranking by making the roster of Georgia’s Top 25 List by Atlanta Business Chronicle. Noting the property’s accessibility to McLemore’s Highlands Course as well as to The Keep, the resort’s latest golf offering, Cloudland joins Callaway Gardens, The Cloister at Sea Island and The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee among others on the list. In addition to the latest accolade as a Top Resort in Georgia, McLemore’s Highlands Course also made Golf magazine’s Top 100 List. This first-time honor for McLemore’s Highlands Course puts them in good stead with Pebble Beach, among others on the prestigious list.
LaFayette Boys and girls basketball teams both picked up region wins on Friday night against Ridgeland. The boys won 58-47. Khalas Finley scored 18 points. Isiah McKenzie added 15. The girls team is now 5-0 on the year with a 58-31 win over Ridgeland. Emma Parker scored 13. Elliott Rogers was right behind with 12.
