The Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will temporarily close a portion of Glenn-Viniard Road beginning August 12 to accommodate construction work at Chickamauga Battlefield.
The closure will affect Glenn-Viniard Road between LaFayette Road and Wilder Road. During the construction period, all public traffic will be prohibited on the affected section of the roadway.
Park officials expect the project to be completed by early September 2026.
A temporary detour will be established to maintain visitor access to designated battlefield tour routes while the work is underway.
The park said the project is part of ongoing efforts to improve visitor safety and enhance the overall visitor experience within Chickamauga Battlefield.
Visitors are encouraged to follow posted detour signs and allow additional travel time while the road closure is in effect.
