Head-on Collision in Rock Spring Results in Fatality

A serious traffic incident occurred in Rock Spring, Georgia, last Thursday, involving two vehicles.

The incident took place shortly after 9 a.m. on State Route 1, also known as Highway 27, near Fields Drive. The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) provided information on the incident.

In this incident, a 2012 GMC Terrain was traveling south on Highway 27, while a 2015 Cadillac SRX was traveling north.

The GMC crossed into the northbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with the Cadillac.

Tragically, the driver of the GMC, Jerry Glenn Payne, lost his life at the scene.

The driver of the Cadillac, Tonya-Joan Marie Overbay, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Regrettably, it was later reported that Overbay passed away due to her injuries while undergoing medical treatment.

Cameron Eli Lyons, who was a passenger in the GMC during the incident, is currently hospitalized in critical condition, as confirmed by the GSP.

The exact cause of this collision remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
