The LaFayette High School boys soccer team earned a milestone victory Friday night, defeating Trion in a dramatic penalty kick finish for its first win over the Bulldogs since 2020.

The varsity match remained scoreless through regulation before the Ramblers secured a 3-2 advantage in penalty kicks to seal the win. Seniors Andrew Martin, Elijah Decker and Vlad Plott each converted during the shootout. Goalkeeper Isaac Hamilton delivered a standout performance, recording multiple key saves to keep LaFayette in contention throughout the match. Defensively, Plott, Gavin Dodd and Decker were credited with strong efforts.

LaFayette’s junior varsity squad also turned in a dominant performance, shutting out Trion 7-0. Aaron Crumbley led the way with a hat trick, while Landen Holbrook, David Ruiz, Jackson Harris and Cayden Decker each added goals. Assists were recorded by Levi Collins, Holbrook and Crumbley.

The varsity Ramblers return to action Tuesday with a road match at Model.

On the girls side, LaFayette picked up a 2-0 road win over Ringgold on Friday, improving to 9-7 on the season.

Cora Lanier opened the scoring for the Lady Ramblers on an assist from Naomi Thompson. Emma Brown added a second goal before halftime, assisted by Parker Lawrence, giving LaFayette a 2-0 lead at the break that held through the final whistle.

Goalkeeper Paisley Johnson recorded 14 saves in the shutout effort, while Prezleigh Baty was named Player of the Match.

The Lady Ramblers are set to close out the regular season this week with away matches at Model and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.
