As thousands of visitors prepare to attend the annual Honeybee Festival in downtown LaFayette, organizers are reminding attendees of several important rules and safety tips designed to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Festival officials have released a “Know Before You Go” guide outlining what visitors can expect and what is and is not permitted within the festival grounds.
According to organizers, only authorized carts will be allowed inside the festival area. The event will also be completely smoke-free, and attendees are asked to respect the no-smoking policy throughout the festival.
Festival officials also noted that drones are prohibited over the event area unless specifically authorized by the City of LaFayette. Any approved drone operations must comply with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and guidelines.
Visitors planning to spend the day at the festival should note that tents will not be permitted inside the event area. However, attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for the festival concerts and entertainment activities.
Pet owners are welcome to bring their animals, but organizers stress that all pets must remain on a leash and comply with applicable city ordinances.
In addition to the event rules, organizers are encouraging festival goers to remain aware of their surroundings throughout the day. Motorists are advised to watch for heavy pedestrian traffic in and around downtown LaFayette as crowds move between festival attractions.
Parents and guardians are also encouraged to take extra precautions with children attending the event. Officials recommend noting the color of clothing children are wearing and taking a photograph of them upon arrival, which could assist authorities if a child becomes separated from their family.
Festival organizers are asking attendees to report any suspicious activity immediately and to remain vigilant throughout the event.
In the event of an emergency, visitors can contact festival officials at (706) 639-1525 or call 911.
The Honeybee Festival is expected to draw large crowds to downtown LaFayette for a full day of live entertainment, food vendors, shopping, family activities and community celebration.
