2023 marks the 49 th year that the Empty Stocking Fund has distributed food to needy families in Walker County. Applications can be picked up at various locations in the county including the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) in Rock Spring, the LaFayette Housing Authority, the Walker County Health Department, and all Walker County libraries. Completed applications should be returned to the above locations.

Only one application per household is required. The last day for turning in an application is Monday, November 27th.
Applications are reviewed and those approved to receive food bags will be notified by letter when to arrive for food pickup. The food distribution date is Friday, December 15 th from 8:30 am to Noon at the Walker County Civic Center Ag Building. The LaFayette Area Empty Stocking Fund was founded as a volunteer-staffed, donation-funded program that provides food insecure families with food for the holiday season.
