The LaFayette City Council will have a lengthy agenda when members meet Monday, Sept. 14, with the city’s property tax rate, budget, several upcoming community events and infrastructure projects among the items scheduled for consideration.
The evening will begin with a public hearing on the property tax at 6:15 p.m., followed by the regularly scheduled council meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Under new business, council members are scheduled to consider adopting the city’s property tax millage rate and adopting the city budget. The council will also consider appointing a city clerk and a police surplus request.
Several upcoming events will come before the council, including road closure requests associated with Scare on the Square, Wrestling on the Square and Hang Out with a Hero. The council will also discuss the city’s Homecoming Parade, Veterans Day Parade and Reindeer Run/Christmas Parade.
Infrastructure and utility matters make up another significant portion of Monday’s agenda. Council members are scheduled to discuss dewatering press wastewater, the Bio-Chem system wastewater, a task order for a water control valve and a task order involving emerging contaminants.
Two street-related projects are also listed for consideration: a South Chattanooga Street sidewalk project from Colerain Street to West Main Street and a crosswalk on Chattanooga Street.
The council is also scheduled to consider a kayak contract and hear information about upcoming events.
Visitors and guests listed on the agenda include representatives from The Haven and Pee Wee Bailey.
Following comments from council members, the city clerk, city attorney/city manager and mayor, the council is scheduled to enter an executive session to discuss real estate, litigation and personnel matters.
