Young athletes in LaFayette will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of volleyball this fall as the City of LaFayette Recreation Department launches an instructional league for girls ages 7 and 8.
The in-house league is designed to teach the basics of the sport in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will practice together as a group one to two evenings each week, with each practice lasting approximately one hour.
During practices, players will rotate through skill stations focused on the fundamentals of serving, passing, and setting. Experienced coaches will be on hand to provide instruction and help players build confidence while developing their volleyball skills.
The number of participants will determine how the game schedule is structured, but each team is expected to play at least eight games during the season.
Recreation officials say the league is a great opportunity for young players to learn the game, improve their skills, and enjoy the experience of being part of a team.
