The City of LaFayette is asking the community to help choose the theme for this year’s Christmas Parade.
Residents can cast their votes on social media by reacting to the city’s post, with four possible themes in the running.
“A Rhinestone Christmas” would bring a country-inspired Christmas to the parade, featuring plenty of sparkle, rhinestones, boots, fringe, guitars, cowboy hats and Christmas lights.
“A Hometown Christmas” would focus on the charm of a classic small-town holiday celebration. Parade entries could feature cozy shops, snow-covered Main Streets, Christmas tree farms, family traditions, hot cocoa and other elements inspired by Christmas in a hometown setting.
“Jingle Bell Jubilee” would put Christmas music at the center of the parade. Each float would choose a Christmas song for inspiration, with possibilities ranging from “Jingle Bells” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” to “Frosty the Snowman” and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.”
The fourth option, “Lights, Camera, Christmas!” would transform the parade into a Christmas movie spectacular. Each float could select a different holiday movie and bring its scenes, characters, costumes and Christmas magic to life.
Voting is being conducted through reactions to the original social media post. A LOVE reaction counts as a vote for “A Rhinestone Christmas,” WOW for “A Hometown Christmas,” LIKE for “Jingle Bell Jubilee,” and HAHA for “Lights, Camera, Christmas!”
Community members can discuss their favorites in the comments, but only reactions to the original post will be counted toward the final results.
Voting will remain open through Friday.
