This grant is set to pave the way for the establishment of a cutting-edge College & Career Academy, named Walker Launch, a collaborative effort between Walker County Schools and Georgia Northwestern Technical College. The academy aims to benefit students in Walker and Dade Counties.

Governor Kemp emphasized the importance of supporting the workforce to maintain Georgia’s position as the No. 1 state for business. “Walker Launch will help prepare students for new opportunities while connecting them with the jobs of tomorrow,” he stated, expressing gratitude to those involved in making the project a reality.

The grant, consisting of $3 million in bonds and an additional $100,000 in cash, will play a crucial role in creating a state-of-the-art learning environment. This environment will equip students with the skills necessary to meet the challenges of the modern workforce. With the establishment of Walker Launch, the count of College & Career Academies in Georgia will reach 58, marking a significant milestone in the state’s commitment to education.

TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier highlighted the dedication to providing exceptional learning experiences that blend academic excellence with real-world skills. “Our focus remains steadfast on equipping students with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive in a competitive global economy,” he emphasized.

The new Georgia College & Career Academy signifies a commitment to collaboration with over 3,000 business partners, ensuring that the curriculum and training align closely with industry needs. This collaboration aims to enhance employability and skill sets for graduates, contributing to the overall growth and prosperity of Walker County’s workforce. Walker Launch is poised to become a valuable asset in preparing students for the dynamic opportunities of the future.
