Drivers traveling through Northwest Georgia, including commuters from Walker County, should prepare for possible traffic delays Tuesday as the Georgia Department of Transportation plans temporary lane closures on Interstate 75 for bridge maintenance work in Catoosa County.
According to GDOT, maintenance crews will close the left southbound lane of I-75 over Three Notch Road near milepost 351 to repair a portion of the bridge.
The closure is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., weather permitting.
The work could impact drivers traveling between Walker County and Chattanooga or those using I-75 through Catoosa County during the daytime hours. Increased congestion and slower traffic are expected in the area while crews complete the repairs.
Motorists are encouraged to reduce their speed, remain alert in the work zone, and allow extra travel time throughout the day.
Real-time traffic and roadway information is available by calling 511, visiting Georgia’s 511 traffic website, or using the Georgia 511 mobile app.
GDOT says maintenance and construction crews continue to perform essential roadway and bridge repairs across the state to help keep Georgia’s transportation infrastructure safe and operational.
