The National Park Service will temporarily close a portion of McFarland Gap Road in the Chickamauga Battlefield on Wednesday, Aug. 19, while crews complete guardrail repairs.
According to Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, McFarland Gap Road, also known as McFarland Avenue, will be closed between Park City Road and White Road from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The temporary closure will allow crews to replace a guardrail that was damaged during a recent storm.
Motorists traveling through the area during the three-hour closure should expect delays, allow additional travel time and consider using an alternate route.
The road is expected to reopen once the work is completed.
