During Wednesday’s storm, a tree crashed onto a home in Walker County, cleaving it in two, according to a county official.

Joe Legge, speaking on behalf of the Walker County government, disclosed that the incident unfolded on McCarter Road in LaFayette, Georgia. Startlingly, residents were seated just about ten feet away from the point of impact.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries, as confirmed by Legge.

Detailing the sequence of events, Legge attributed the destruction to a swift-moving severe thunderstorm that swept through south Walker County between 12:10 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. The force of the storm not only felled the tree onto the unsuspecting home but also caused a temporary power outage at LaFayette High School.

As the community assesses the aftermath of this natural calamity, residents are reminded to remain vigilant during inclement weather conditions.
