Residents and businesses served by Chickamauga Power should prepare for a planned overnight power outage this weekend as the Tennessee Valley Authority conducts urgent repairs to a local substation.
According to city officials, TVA crews will begin work at 11 p.m. Saturday, with power expected to be restored by approximately 4 a.m. Sunday. The outage is anticipated to last between four and five hours.
The repairs are necessary due to weather-related damage sustained during storms that moved through the area last week. Officials said the nighttime work schedule was selected to minimize disruptions during periods of high temperatures and peak electricity demand.
The overnight timing is also intended to reduce impacts on local water and sewer services.
During the repair period, Chickamauga Power customers will experience an interruption in electric service. Residents are encouraged to prepare in advance by charging cell phones, flashlights, medical devices, and other essential electronics before the outage begins.
Officials also recommend having emergency lighting available and being prepared for temporary service disruptions throughout the repair window.
City leaders thanked customers for their patience and understanding as TVA works to prevent additional damage and maintain reliable electrical service in the future.
