The Walker County Board of Education has announced two public meetings to gather input on its proposed 2026-2027 operating budget.
According to a public notice issued by the school system, the hearings are being held in accordance with Georgia Code §20-2-167.1 and are intended exclusively to provide citizens with an opportunity to comment on the proposed annual operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
All citizens are invited to attend the meetings, which will begin at 5 p.m.
The first public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Walker County Advancing Education Center, located at 925 Osburn Road in Chickamauga.
A second public hearing will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Walker County Department of Education, located at 301 North Cherokee Street in LaFayette.
School officials say the tentative budget will be available for public review through the Financial Services Department and on the Walker County Schools website.
The budget hearings provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the proposed spending plan and offer feedback before the budget is finalized for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
