The Walker County Board of Education will hold a tax levy hearing and its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Aug. 17, at the Walker County Department of Education Building in LaFayette.
The tax levy hearing is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at 301 North Duke Street. The agenda includes a call to order, invocation and discussion before adjournment.
The board’s regular session will follow at 6:30 p.m. at 301 North Cherokee Street.
One of the primary items on the regular meeting agenda is a resolution to establish the 2026 levy of tax. The board previously announced plans to adopt a full rollback millage rate of 14.013 mills for 2026.
Board members are also scheduled to receive reports from the superintendent and on district facilities.
Several items are included on the consent agenda, including minutes from previous meetings, the FY2027 CTAE and Perkins V Local Plan and agreements involving BlazerWorks, Gobiquity Inc., Mountain Education Center Inc. and Seesaw Learning Inc.
Other consent items include renewal of the TOOLS4EVER subscription for HelloID account management, Unum Group hospital insurance and school contracts for an IXL Learning subscription at Saddle Ridge K-8 School and NewTerra Composting at Rock Spring Elementary.
The agenda also includes new business and a public participation period. An executive session and personnel recommendations are scheduled before the meeting adjourns.
