Walker County Board of Education to Meet Tonight; Agenda Includes Curriculum, Technology and Purchasing Items

The Walker County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting tonight, Monday, July 20, at 6 p.m. at the Walker County Board of Education offices, located at 301 N. Cherokee Street in LaFayette.

Board members are scheduled to consider a wide range of items affecting district operations, finances, curriculum, technology and school programs.

The meeting will begin with the call to order, invocation, pledge to the flags and approval of the agenda. The board will also receive updates during the superintendent’s report and facilities report before moving into action items.

Among the individual action items is the district’s financial report.

The consent agenda includes approval of minutes from several June budget, planning and regular meetings, along with consideration of the district’s Local Board Training Plan and revisions to purchasing procedures.

Board members are also expected to consider approval of the FY2027 Pre-K application through Georgia’s Bright from the Start program, the purchase of HMH Writable curriculum materials, and a School Nutrition bid for ice cream and frozen dessert products.

Technology and facility-related items include a Chromebook purchase for Rossville Elementary School funded through Fund 150 and new lobby furniture for Walker LAUNCH funded through E-SPLOST.

The board is also scheduled to consider several contracts, including a professional learning agreement with math consultant Terry Haney, fundraising and school partnership agreements involving Naomi Elementary School and Gilbert Elementary School, School Days Photography services, and a World’s Finest Chocolate fundraising agreement.

Following any new business and public participation, the board is expected to enter executive session before returning to consider personnel recommendations. The meeting will conclude with adjournment.

The meeting is open to the public and is scheduled to begin promptly at 6 p.m. tonight at the Walker County Board of Education offices in LaFayette.
